The badge can be attached to all EU licence plates. DEUP is digitally coded and contains all technically relevant vehicle data in order to calculate the individual costs for entry into environmental zones.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Fully Automatic<\/h4>

The DEUP is automatically read at traffic lights when entering cities. The calculation of the cost of entry is based on the current daily pollution and individual vehicle data.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

How does DEUP<\/strong> work?<\/h2>\n

Unlike the previous green environmental badge, the DEUP is granted by the Traffic Office upon registration or transfer of ownership of a vehicle, and its allocation can therefore be controlled by the government.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Step 1<\/h4>

The digitally readable environmental badge is officially issued by the Traffic Office, meaning that its allocating can be controlled by the government.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

Step 2<\/h4>

It is then attached to the EURO part of the vehicle\u00b4s licence plate. It contains both vehicle-specific data and emission data for entry into low-emission zones (EURO standard).<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

In urban areas, the data is collected by detection devices attached to the first traffic light system of an low-emission zone, making it both economical and person-independent.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

What makes DEUP<\/strong> smart?<\/h2>\n

Vehicle data and up-to-date air pollution information provide the basis for calculating an individual fee that is off-set against the motor vehicle tax. Low-emission cars drive for free, but vehicles with a higher level of emissions are charged a fee which complies with the vehicle\u2019s emission class for entering the zone.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

But the possibilities of the DEUP go much further. Vehicle movement profiles can thus be used over longer periods of time for specific traffic policy measures.<\/p>\n

The updated current price for entry into low-emission zones can be seen by drivers right away. Cheaper or more environmentally friendly alternatives are shown in the app and are promoted through cooperation with public transport, parking or car and bike sharing providers.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>
